Movie Feel Good Review – Freedom Writers is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is based on the true story of a 23 year old Erin Gruwell (Hilary Swank), an idealistic high school teacher who insists on teaching a class at a gang infested high school in Long Beach, California.
The first mission of the class is to drive the young teacher away. They’ve succeeded with every other teacher. However, Gruwell won’t quit. The young teacher tackles the racial conflicts and the hard shells of the students who spend their daily lives in fear of brutality and death.
This movie brings you into the lives of the do-gooder teacher and the tough facade of teenagers who are struggling for survival, acceptance, and respect of their peers.
The story leaves you with a sense of hope and accomplishment. It makes you want to hug somebody.

I have to agree with you in the fact that this is truly an inspiring movie. I admire her perserverance. Sometimes just pushing past some difficult times, such as she did, proves that many positive results can emerge! Also, showing interest in those who belive they are not worthy, is such a powerful force.
