Devotional Writing
Devotional writing is praying at the computer keyboard. Or we can pray with a pen and a pad of paper.
We express gratitude to God for all the various blessings in our life. We can ask for help in serving God better.
We limit the power of the prayers if we ask for other people to be different. However, we can ask for help in forgiving others. We can ask for help in letting go of trying to control and then accepting other people the way they are.
We limit the power of the prayers by asking for physical objects. Instead we can ask for help in appreciating what we have. Or we can express gratitude for what we have.
We can ask for help in being a better person. For example, we can ask for help in being more loving.
We can ask for help in seeing the hidden beauty in everyone and everything. Or we can express gratitude for the beauty in everyone and everything.
We can ask for help in replacing addictions with positive attributes. For example, if we’re addicted to judging others, we can ask for help in replacing our judgments with unconditional love for everyone in all circumstances.
Try it. You’ll love it. You’ll look at life differently. You’ll experience life from a loving perspective.

I hope this might be worth something to someone. Part of my daily routing in the morning is to list at least 10 things which make me fortunate. I use a method called sentence completion. I type the sentence stub “I am observing now that I am fortunate now that…” and then complete the sentence with the first that comes to mind. It’s most useful for one to do this without “thinking” too much about what one “should” wtite. An added benefit I believe, along with noticing my good fortune, is that it helps bring my awareness and attention to the here and now (a popular book: “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle). The following is what I typed today:
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that I am breathing.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that there is a tv for me to watch.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that Zinda is with me.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that there is a car available to me.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that there is this body.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that I am conscious.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that I am capable of being aware.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that I am in a comfortable apartment.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that there is food and nutrition available for this body.
I am observing now that I am fortunate now that I am able to make music.
Thank you for that, Raymond. That could help a lot of people, including me.
