Self-Expression Benefits

Self-expression, or the lack thereof, is one of the most important factors of success in our lives.

Are we making a good living or not?

Are we perceived at our true value or something less?

Do we have happy, loving relationships or not?

This all depends on our self-expression. And it depends on our willingness to honor other people’s self-expression.

This short video gives you a simple exercise that will vastly improve the quality of your life.

    Hey, Jim!

New camera is looking good. Your thoughts on self expression helped me open my eyes to the idea a little more. I know as humans, we have a natural desire to speak and be heard, but anymore it seems harder and harder to achieve. Most people only want to hear themselves, and not listen to what others have to say.

  2. Hi Jim — Just came across your Twitter page, which led me here. I enjoyed this post and video. You have a wonderful, non-stilted presence which I strive for in my writing on awareness, curiosity and wonder. You’re an inspiration, and I look forward to seeing your tweets and exploring your site further! THanks for the honest, heartfelt work you’re doing!

    Hello Jim,
I listen to several of your videos often. I expect that may be because we have some “perspectives” in common. I appreciate your sharing.

In this video you mention vocalizing as a way of self expression. I’m curious what your thoughts may be about simply writing one”s observations – journaling. Particularly what one might observe about emotions, attitudes, thoughts, etc.

And while writing this a thought occurs to me, “what is it that may make me hesitate to express verbally?” Maybe I don’t like the sound of my own voice :)

You know, I do not honor other people’s self-expression… why should I when I maintain my self-righteous attitude on my sleeve, on my name-tag, on my face and in my voice? Those two ideals obviously cannot co-exist… and furthermore, one of them is not ideal.
The truth is I am not making a good living and my perception is it has been a less than stellar life. I just got off the phone with a woman who wants more distance between us.
Enough negativity, I had to vent.
Your videos help, Jim. Keep them coming, I listen to them everyday before going into this job I consider my latest prison sentence. You talk about perfection and ‘consider it to be perfect’. How far I have to go… say a prayer.
