Along with control and survival, approval is one of the three basic human wants that keep us entrapped as the ego.

It’s astonishing how far people will go for approval. The multi-billion dollar cosmetic industry is just one example. The clothing industry is another. The list goes on and on.

People pattern their behavior based on what they think will get approval. And yes it’s common to subject ourselves to control to get approval.

The amazing thing is that it’s incredibly effective to give ourselves approval. There’s no need to seek it anywhere else.

This is powerful stuff.

It can dissolve guilt and help us forgive ourselves.

We can benefit from doing this several hours per day.

Do you know how powerful it is to simply love your self? You can get benefits similar to being loved by someone else.

Actually the benefits are much better and dependable, because you’re not depending on someone else for love. Loving our self tends to dissolve ego limitations.

The ego thrives on suffering. Loving ourself tends to dissolve suffering. This guided meditation can help. Why not give it a go?

The Whole Class Was Astonished

We were all coaches and healers. We’d spent most of our lives in improving ourselves and others. Yet what we saw shook the very foundations of everything we believed.

Dr. Judith Kravitz, founder of The Transformational Breath Foundation, was teaching us an advanced class in Transformational Breathing.

About half way through the first day, Judith asked for a volunteer to come up front for yet another demonstration. We were about to see something that would make our heads spin.

You might have heard of muscle testing. It’s a technique to find out if something is good for us or bad for us. Chiropractors and other health practitioners use it all the time.

Judith tested the volunteer for a baseline. In other words, you have to start by making sure the testing works correctly.

Then came the earthquake. Judith asked everyone to send healing energy to the volunteer. Then Judith muscle tested again.

You’re not going to believe this. The person tested weak!!!

The volunteer weakened when we sent healing energy to her!!!

We were about to get the next earthquake to complete the collapse of what we thought we knew.

Judith asked everyone to see the person as already perfect in that moment. Guess what?

The volunteer tested strong?

She became weaker when we saw her as needing healing energy. She became stronger when we saw her as already perfect!!!

Whoa? What have I been doing all my life? What have we been taught?

OUR INTENTIONS WERE GOOD, BUT …

Perfection happens where someone sees themselves or someone else as perfect and does something, or nothing, for the benefit of the other person. The word intention may not even apply. We see the person as already perfect. There is no intention to change anything.

Misguided intention

What the heck is misguided intention?

Misguided intention is where we see a person or situation as screwed up and we try to fix them.

Does that shake things up for you? It sure shook me up.

What have I been doing all my life? What have I been taught?

Sure, you can see things as messed up and fix them. For example, you can see a house as dirty. You can then clean it up. And yes, then it’s clean.

Does it stay clean? There is a never-ending activity of cleaning the house as it keeps getting dirty. Does that mean that, if you always see the house as clean, it will always be clean? You still go through the motions of cleaning.

How about self-esteem?

One of the key factors in our life experience is our body image. How much do we accept our own bodies. Are we good enough to be …?

Are we good enough to have …?

Are we good enough to do …?

This depends entirely on our own self esteem. Although our bodies have something to do with how others treat us, the most important factor is how we view ourselves.

In another article, The Perfect Self, we explored the subject of gray magic. If we hold an image of our bodies as being messed up then we have a negative impact on our bodies as well as our self esteem.

If we think we are our bodies, then we are building esteem for the wrong self.

We build esteem for our bodies by seeing their true perfection. The first step in doing that is accepting them the way they are. They are okay the way they are.

What affect does acceptance have on our health?

Well, first of all, let me tell you that I am no authority on health. However, many people believe that we have an energetic blueprint for our bodies. This energetic blueprint affects the condition of our bodies. The blueprint comes first. The actual body condition comes some time later.

If you were fortunate enough to see the movie “What the Bleep”, you saw microscopic pictures of water after the water was exposed to prayer, positive thoughts, and various negative emotions.

The results were astonishing!!!

The microscopic pictures of the water exposed to negative emotions and thoughts looked like a real mess. However, the pictures of the positive emotion exposed water looked like nature’s works of art. They were harmonious and beautiful.

Imagine what effect emotions have on our body!!!

In a later scene, the main character looked into a mirror and dramatically exclaimed “I hate you”. This normally beautiful woman looked quite unattractive.

Fortunately, the leading character had a realization. She started loving herself and painted loving art work all over her body. Her whole appearance changed. She looked beautiful again. She was happy. She accepted and loved herself.

Have you ever tried to fight off negativity?

You probably noticed that it was a never ending battle. We might temporarily succeed by placing ourselves inside a protective egg shell where all the bad stuff is outside. Our world can get smaller and smaller as we do that. Pretty soon there’s nothing left but us in our shrinking eggshell watching Mary Poppins video.

In other words, have you ever tried to get rid of something by resisting it?

What happened? Did it keep coming back? Could there be a better way?

Yes, fortunately there is a better way. We can observe something and accept it the way it is. This doesn’t mean we mentally push it away by telling ourselves that we accept it? Do you remember last Christmas dinner with the family?

Can we really accept something? Can we allow it to continue forever? If we really can, then magic happens. That something can lift off. I can’t promise that you can change physical reality. But I’m not also saying that you can’t.

I can tell you from experience that you can change your emotional and mental experience.

By accepting your body the way it is, you change the energetic blueprint of your body. And …

It feels good.

Lack of self-discipline is the Achilles heel of good intentions.

We want to get through that pile of papers. We want to eat healthy food. We want to force ourselves to study so we can do a better job.

Yet somehow we can’t bring ourselves to do it. It isn’t interesting.

We want to pay attention to our spouse or friends when they’re talking to us. But we’re mentally churning on problems that consume our attention.

We know that we need to discipline ourselves and pay attention. Parents and teachers hammered that into us when we were children.

We beat ourselves up because we can’t seem to force ourselves to do what we feel we should do. Our self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-image take hits over and over again.

What is one to do? What is going on?

Often we don’t have much interest or passion for doing the things that are really important.

We know that finishing that pile of papers will bring us a surge of energy and a feeling of freedom. But we can’t seem to bring ourselves to do it.

We know that making those phone calls will open up new areas in our lives.

We know that keeping attention on our spouse or friends while we’re conversing will improve our relationships. But we keep thinking about some problem.

How do we manage our attention?

We can do it the easy way. We can create our own interest.

Interest is senior to attention. And it’s easier to manage.

We can deliberately create our own interest in anything we choose. We can select the most important things in our life and deliberately create interest in those things. We can then act accordingly. This is beyond self-discipline.

We can create our own interest in preparing healthy meals and then act accordingly.

We can create our own interest in our products and services. And we can act accordingly. We learn more. We do a better job. We do more.

We are interested when we talk about our products and services. There is no need to shout. Other people pick up on our interest. They become more interested in buying our products or services.

We succeed. We get our work out into the world.

And who knows? Could we make more money this easily? You can try it. Let me know how it works for you.

How do we create interest?

One way is to use the amazing power of imagination. We can imagine that we’re interested in something of our choosing. Voila! We’re interested.

You can try it. You can choose something that’s not overly inspiring, perhaps organizing papers. Just imagine that you’re very interested filing those papers in a file cabinet. Keep on imagining that you’re interested. See it in your mind. Or, if you wish, feel how interesting that is.

You do have this power. It is amazing.

We can create our own interest in what’s important and act accordingly. That’s senior to self-discipline.

This can bring success. It can raise your spirits.

It can restore self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-image.

We can practice this frequently and become more and more interested in the important things in our life.

Please let me know how this goes. I care.

Your friend,

Self Esteem – We have a tendency to beat ourselves up. It’s been said that we’re our own worst enemies.

There is nobody holding us down but ourselves. Mass consciousness can certainly be a limiting factor, especially on the physical plane. It impacts us also on the mental, spiritual, and emotional planes.

We can rise above these limits. The physical can take work – possibly a lot of work. We can rise much easier on the mental, spiritual, and emotional levels.

We might seem to be the odd ball if we don’t buy into all the popular paradigms. But we can learn to be okay as an odd ball. What is an odd ball is in the eyes of the beholder.

One person’s oddball is another person’s soulmate or ideal friend.

We can be who we are. As we evolve “who we are” changes. Often the changes are in ways that are not accepted by mass consciousness.

We can’t depend on approval from outside of ourselves. Recognition of our value is between us and God.

Just keep going with your own values and policy for living. If those values and that policy are positive, you will evolve to a higher level of consciousness.

Actually each decision we make impacts our karma and our level of consciousness.

How to Recognize Your Own Value

The basic truth is that you have infinite value. However there are some stepping stones you can walk to help you realize that value.

For one thing you can write a list of the things that you have contributed or are contributing to the world.

If you’re happy be sure to write that on the list. Your happiness contributes to the world in immeasurable ways.

If you’ve performed acts of kindness, please add those to the list.

If you’ve created something that helps people, please add that to the list.

If you’ve raised children that should definitely go on the list. Add as many details as you can think of.

You can keep adding to this list on a regular basis. Or you can simply come back to this list in the future and add to it.

Giving Your self Approval

There is no limit to what people will do to get approval. There are industries taking in billions of dollars helping people get approval. People will compromise their lives to get approval.

You don’t need to get approval from someone else. You can give it to yourself.

There is a five minute guided meditation that will help you with this. You can play the guided meditation by clicking here.

You are magnificent!
