Whatever label you use, it is readily available to you.

Most famous writers say they discipline themselves to sit and write – no matter how they feel.

Inspiration follows perspiration.

Script Frenzy is an event that takes place every year in the month of April. People all over the world give themselves the challenge of writing the first draft of a 100+ page movie script, television script, or whatever. It is a challenge, but it’s a lot of fun.

You can find out more at the Script Frenzy website.

If you’re struggling to make a living you probably have your head spinning from time to time. If you’re using a computer, you probably have your head spinning most of the time.

I’ve found many things that help me relax my spinning head. One way, the way I’m writing about today, is writing for mental clarity – writing to let go of complexity.

I simply sit at my computer, open the word processor that I use for journaling (yWriter), and start typing. I let go.

I pose questions. I let various ideas come to mind and onto the computer screen.

This provides mental clarity for me.

I type about whatever has my head spinning. The problems shift. The attention flies all over the place as I’m typing away.

There are endless temptations to immediately jump and do something else. When those inclinations rear their heads, I open up my things to do list and add that task. Then I return to writing.

Gradually, or sometimes suddenly, this clears my mind. Silence prevails.

All is well.

May the bliss be with you.

…

Duke’s Glider

Duke took a gasp of delight. The Grand Canyon, far below, was a wonder of nature. It was wondrous to behold. Duke knew to not fly directly over the Grand Canyon at low altitudes. There were just too many downdrafts for his sleek glider to sustain.

Even though Duke’s design with a special alloy was the strongest plane fuselage on earth, there was no point in inviting danger.

Duke had long since learned to flow with the forces of Nature. He turned his craft to the right as he approached the south rim. With his 20/5 vision, Duke could easily depict the details of what was going on with the crowds

The following is the title page and the preface from my first bliss written novel – Duke Blisser and the Meditating Marines.

Gliding on Life’s Winds with God – An Example of Using Bliss Writing to Have a Life of Radiant Health, Abundance, and Bliss

The purpose is to use bliss writing to imagine and create a better life for the author.

Bliss Writing is an extremely powerful method of self-improvement and spiritual growth. The benefits are almost too great to imagine.

For one thing, you can sit down with a notepad and pen, or a computer and type your way to a better life. This is absolutely amazing. You can take great strides toward your new life in as little as twenty minutes, or ten minutes if you’re pressed for time.

Perhaps the ultimate is writing a novel in a month.

The benefits include:

increased self confidence

increased creativity

increased intelligence

greater imagination

greatly increased level of consciousness

improved physical

Devotional writing is praying at the computer keyboard. Or we can pray with a pen and a pad of paper.

We express gratitude to God for all the various blessings in our life. We can ask for help in serving God better.

We limit the power of the prayers if we ask for other people to be different. However, we can ask for help in forgiving others. We can ask for help in letting go of trying to control and then accepting other people the way they are.

We limit the power of the prayers by asking for physical objects. Instead we can ask for help in appreciating what we have. Or we can express gratitude for what we have.

We can ask for help in being a better person. For example, we can ask for help in being more loving.

We can ask for help in seeing the hidden beauty in everyone and everything. Or we can express gratitude for the beauty in everyone and everything.

We can ask for help in replacing addictions with positive attributes. For example, if we’re addicted to judging others, we can ask for help in replacing our judgments with unconditional love for everyone in all circumstances.

Try it. You’ll love it. You’ll look at life differently. You’ll experience life from a loving perspective.

You can write to feel better. At least it works for me.

Sometimes when you’re not quite with it, or if you’re not feeling too awesome, you can write your heart out.

And if you’re already feeling good, you can write to feel even better.

There is a secret to this particular form of writing. You don’t stop to think. You simply let it rip.

If you find yourself stuck, simply write anything. It doesn’t have to be some piece of literature that will alter the course of civilization. This particular writing is devoted to you personally. It is for your eyes only. It is for your own personal gain.

The idea is to get the thinking mind out of the way. Simply let it go. Depending on your belief system, you could get the idea that some Higher Power is working through you.

Actually this process, stepping aside and letting a Higher Power work through you, is a major step in advancing to a higher level of consciousness – a higher level of existence.

The temptation is to say that this is not to be taken lightly. However, you evolve past seriousness when you take things lightly. This is not abandoning responsibility, it is letting go of the rigid emotions that limit our ability to be effective in the world.

Letting go can be tremendously powerful. We could do a nine day retreat on simply letting go. It is simple and life changing.

A good start on all of this is to simply let go when you’re writing. You don’t even have to come back later and edit your writing. The act of writing is what helps you.

This is called stream of consciousness writing. A couple of years ago I wrote a complete novel with stream of consciousness writing. The novel came through me in unexpected ways. There was a sudden appearance of an unexpected character who wound up fitting perfectly into the novel.

However, you don’t have to wind up with writing that makes sense. For the purposes of feeling good, just let it rip.

Should you’re writing be happy, angry, sad, or …? There is value in purging your unhappy and angry thoughts. If you’re really bummed out, you can express yourself in writing. It is one way to purge your negative feelings.

However, I wouldn’t suggest that you keep that up for a very long time. There is tremendous value in writing from a positive viewpoint. Abraham-Hicks suggests various spiritual exercises where you write about things in a positive way.

You can create a spiritual path that is based on positive writing. My book Rocket Fuel for the Soul has over four hundred exercises called blissercises – bliss exercises. It invites you to look at things differently.

May the bliss be with you.

Jim
